The Panasonic Lumix DMC FT-1 on DPReview

During last may, I wrote a short presentation of the Panasonic FT-1, a waterproof digital camera. Unfortunately, since this post, I couldn’t test the device in hard conditions, and just take some photos of my kids in swimming pool. I recently discovered an interesting test in DPReview, that compares several waterproof digital cameras:  the Panasonic, but also Canon D10, Pentax W80, Olympus Stylus Tough 6000 et 8000, and Fuji FinePix Z33WP.

I think that it’s useless to present the quality of DPReview‘s tests: cameras are deeply analysed on each parameter, and results are compared severely.

I summarized the results of these tests in the following table. They are quite good for the Panasonic:

Mode Rank
1 2 3
Outdoors /
Daylight
Canon D10,
Panasonic DMC-FT1,
Pentax W60
Pentax W80,
Olympus Tough 6000
Olympus Tough 8000,
Fujifilm Z33 WP
Low light /
High ISO
Panasonic DMC-FT1 Canon D10,
Pentax W60
Pentax W80,
Olympus Tough 6000,
Olympus Tough 8000,
Fujifilm Z33 WP
Flash Canon D10 Pentax W60,
Pentax W80,
Olympus Tough 6000
Olympus Tough 8000,

Underwater Canon D10,

Pentax W80,
Olympus Tough 6000,

Except the two last points, the Panasonic is always at the top the of image quality ranking.

The site notices also: the easy video mode, and a good battery life duration.
