See the shutter of a DSLR from the inside.

A picture is always better than a long explanation. It is not so easy to describe the sequence of operations followed by a reflex during shutting. What happen between mirror, shutter, first curtain, second curtain … Marianne and Jeffrey Friedl Oelund had the great idea of filming the shutter of an opened Nikon D3, which allows us to see all the sequences from the inside.

To summarize, the authors filmed a Nikon with a camera fast enough to capture everything, then submit the result as « low motion » pictures. You can decompose the movement image by image, by dragging the mouse over the animation.
