Principle
Rules of accessibility are now described in standards. This site and the site Accessiweb defined a set of 100 rules and criteria, based on recommandations coming from W3C and BrailleNet association.
Split content and design
These constraints lead to split the content, and the design. This principle forbid the use of any style item in the HTML document. The HTML and CSS coding follows this principle.
An easy way to check the readability of a web page, is requesting your browser, to display page without style (menu View / Page style / No style with Firefox).
Font size
All texts are using “relative” font size unit. That means you can modify the size of this font with your browsers.
To modify font size:
- With most of the browsers: : Ctrl + wheel of the mouse,
- Internet Explorer 6: Go to menu View >> Texte size,
- Mozilla, Firefox ou Netscape : Use Ctrl + + to increase size, or Ctrl + - to decrease,
- Opera : hit keys + or - of the numeric pad, or use the menu View / Zoom.
Browsing help
Bypass Blocks
These blocks, located at the beginning of the page, are composed of links
- to bypass blocks of content that are repeated on multiple Web pages,
- to access directly to the content, or a specific page component.
Keyboard use
All functionality of the content is operable through a keyboard interface (Tab key, Enter key, Alt+ … )
Others
Unfortunately this blog doesn’t follow all the accessibility rules. But the theme will certainly evolve, and other rules will be added when possible.
